Director, People Development (CRRD)

Location: Hybrid; Nairobi, Kenya, Amman, Jordan, or London, UK. Candidates must be located in and have the right to work in Kenya, Jordan, or the UK.

Salary: GBP 65,785–73,095 per year, calibrated by work location, experience, skills, internal equity, labor market, job type, and budget.

What you will do

• Lead CRRD people development strategy and priorities in alignment with IRC Strategy 100 and Delivery Letter goals.
• Partner with senior CRRD, regional, country, and People & Culture leaders to drive adoption and measurable impact of development programs.
• Design and deliver leader integration, country director onboarding, workshops, peer learning groups, leadership programs, and manager capability initiatives.
• Implement talent review, succession planning, workforce planning, talent movement, and capability-building infrastructure.
• Translate strategic priorities into scalable programs suited to diverse, field-based, limited-resource humanitarian contexts.
• Track program metrics, report effectiveness, respond to emerging needs, and champion responsible use of approved AI tools for learning and talent development.

Requirements

• 8–10 years of progressive experience in learning and development, talent management, or organizational development.
• Experience designing and implementing people development programs across complex, matrixed organizations.
• Experience designing and facilitating leadership and manager development, talent reviews, and succession planning.
• Experience conducting learning needs assessments and converting findings into targeted, scalable solutions.
• Proficiency in L&D metrics, reporting, and data-driven program evaluation and iteration.
• Familiarity with instructional design methodologies and adult learning principles.
• Exceptional relationship-building, influencing, facilitation, and stakeholder partnership skills across functions and geographies.
• Ability to manage ambiguity and competing priorities while balancing strategic planning with agile responses.
• Deep understanding of field-based and humanitarian operating environments and limited-resource contexts.
• Ability to work across multiple time zones with globally distributed teams and willingness to travel internationally as needed.
• English fluency required.

Nice to have

• Experience applying AI tools to learning content design, program personalization, talent development, or workforce analytics.
• Proficiency in an additional core IRC language: French, Arabic, or Spanish.
