Technical Architect

Location: Remote within the UK; business travel and a car allowance are required.

What you will do

• Develop proof-of-concept solutions alongside Solution Architects and evaluate products for live operational use.
• Design and deliver mission-critical technical solutions, including architecture tasks for major change projects.
• Produce, present, maintain, and update technical designs, workplans, migration plans, and project documentation.
• Support project planning, equipment ordering, engineering milestone reviews, task assignment through Azure DevOps, and change approval.
• Provide technical consultancy and troubleshoot issues for engineering and project delivery teams throughout the delivery lifecycle.
• Maintain technical documentation and ensure project artefacts are complete for support handover.

Requirements

• Eligible for SC and NPPV clearance; must have lived in the UK for at least five consecutive years.
• HND/HNC-level education or relevant industry experience, with at least two years of proven experience in comparable roles.
• Proven experience developing proof of concepts, capturing requirements, producing technical design documentation, and troubleshooting problems.
• Understanding of non-functional requirements, their impact on technical design, and experience learning and investigating new technologies.
• Experience in IT-focused server and client environments, including Microsoft Windows 10/11 and Windows Server up to Server 2025, primarily using Dell or similar hardware.
• Good understanding of Microsoft Active Directory and domain architecture, plus experience with Microsoft Hyper-V or VMware.
• Experience with MS Visio, Excel, Word, and other Microsoft business applications.
• Strong interpersonal communication, presentation, written communication, customer service, autonomous working, and teamwork skills.
• Proven experience working to ITIL best practices.
• Must have a pre-existing right to work and travel within the UK; documentary evidence is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with mission-critical solutions and extensive technical solution design for IT systems.
• TOGAF or other formal design methodology experience.
• Understanding of SIP, scripting with Batch/MySQL/PowerShell, Hyper-V Failover Clustering, and telephony platforms such as Cisco UCCE, Avaya, Mitel, ShoreTel, or Asterisk.
• Knowledge of MySQL/MSSQL administration, jobs, backups, and queries.
• Microsoft Azure experience in solution design, deployment, or security.
