Senior Financial Analyst, Strategic Finance (R&D & Reporting)

Location: San Francisco Bay Area, US; hybrid role requiring three full business days per week in the San Francisco office.

Salary: $123.2K–$184.8K annually, plus equity.

What you will do

• Partner with R&D leaders on budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and decision-ready spending insights.
• Evaluate strategic investments, new business verticals, product lines, hardware and AI initiatives using ROI, unit economics, margin, and cash-flow analyses.
• Translate software contract terms into infrastructure forecasts and develop an infrastructure ROI framework with Procurement and Accounting.
• Support financial consolidation, corporate forecasting, month-end and quarter-end close, reporting, and actuals-to-forecast tie-outs.
• Automate and improve leadership dashboards and maintain planning and consolidation systems such as Adaptive.
• Use AI to improve financial analytics, reporting, workflows, and team efficiency while leading cross-functional workstreams.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in strategic finance, equity research, investment banking, business operations, or a related analytical role, ideally including a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
• Experience evaluating strategic investments and business cases through ROI, unit economics, margin, or cash-flow analysis.
• Strong corporate finance knowledge, including monthly close, budget-versus-actual analysis, financial modeling, and sensitivity and scenario analysis.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills, including presenting insights to technical and non-technical audiences and influencing senior stakeholders.
• Business acumen and experience in a high-scaling software or healthcare company.
• Experience navigating complex decisions through cross-functional collaboration.
• Familiarity with financial planning and consolidation systems such as Adaptive or Workday.
• Advanced proficiency with AI tools such as Claude, OpenAI, and Glean, plus financial modeling in Excel or Google Sheets.
• Organized, detail-oriented, intellectually curious, and comfortable working independently through ambiguity.
• Must be located in the San Francisco Bay Area and able to work in the office three days per week.

Nice to have

• Experience partnering with R&D, engineering, product, or other functional organizations in high-growth technology, healthcare, software, or hardware businesses.
• Experience with financial consolidation and corporate forecasting, or the ability to learn them quickly.
• Accounting knowledge covering the relationship between the three financial statements, close processes, and GAAP versus non-GAAP.
• Hands-on experience administering or building in Adaptive or a similar planning tool.
• Experience with Mode Analytics and SQL.
• Passion for using AI to improve team efficiency and strong interpersonal intelligence.
