AI Product Manager (Applied AI)

Location: Hybrid in San Francisco or San Diego, United States

Salary: $170,000–$220,000 base plus potential bonus; another listing states $180,000–$240,000.

What you will do

• Lead structured discovery with subject-matter experts to map workflows, decision points, exceptions, pain points, bottlenecks, and current performance.
• Reimagine manual processes from first principles around AI and turn them into production-ready products.
• Write detailed solution and design briefs, requirements, and technical specifications for engineering delivery.
• Coordinate specialist AI engineering partners through build reviews, feedback cycles, and acceptance.
• Partner with data science on evaluation rubrics, golden datasets, quality-control processes, and production-readiness thresholds.
• Lead shadow runs, stakeholder adoption, and post-launch measurement of operational value.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of experience in product management, product analysis, or a closely related discipline.
• Hands-on experience with AI-enabled products, LLM-based applications, or agentic systems; traditional software delivery or conventional ML experience alone is not sufficient.
• Evidence of taking ambiguous problems through discovery, solution design, and delivery rather than owning only a narrow feature set.
• Strong written product skills, including process maps, design briefs, requirements, or technical specifications.
• Technical and quantitative fluency sufficient to work credibly with data scientists and AI engineers and challenge proposed solutions.
• High-agency working style suited to a fast-moving, execution-focused environment.
• Ability to conduct detailed SME discovery, create precise buildable specifications, rethink workflows from an AI-first perspective, and own a workstream end-to-end.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, or a related field.
• Experience in fintech, payments, lending, insurance, mortgage, or another high-velocity product environment is strongly preferred.
