Mainframe Datacom Database Administrator (SME)

What you will do

• Administer, maintain, support, and optimize CA Datacom/DB databases in large-scale IBM z/OS mainframe environments.
• Manage MUF configurations, database performance, capacity planning, availability, and operational monitoring.
• Implement backup, recovery, disaster recovery, business continuity, replication, and CDC processes.
• Lead root cause analysis and resolve complex database incidents and performance issues.
• Support database upgrades, migrations, modernization initiatives, and operational documentation.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, application, middleware, and development teams; mentor junior team members and participate in on-call support when required.

Requirements

• Strong experience as a Mainframe Database Administrator supporting enterprise production environments.
• Deep expertise in CA Datacom/DB administration.
• Hands-on experience with MUF management, database performance tuning and optimization, backup and recovery strategies, database replication, CDC technologies, problem determination, and root cause analysis.
• Solid experience with IBM z/OS.
• Knowledge of JCL, TSO/ISPF, SDSF, and other mainframe operational tools.
• Experience supporting high-availability and mission-critical environments.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

Nice to have

• Experience with database modernization and migration projects.
• Knowledge of automation and monitoring solutions for mainframe environments.
• Familiarity with enterprise integration and data replication architectures.
• Experience working in global and geographically distributed teams.
• Previous experience as a technical lead, SME, or escalation point.
