What you will do

• Monitor SQL Server databases across production and development environments to maintain secure, highly available services with minimal downtime.
• Troubleshoot SQL development issues and manage database maintenance, upgrades, changes, and releases.
• Create, maintain, and test backup and disaster recovery plans.
• Analyze database trends and provide resource insights to management.
• Develop knowledge of applications and emerging technologies to propose solutions for business application challenges.
• Establish and enforce division IT application standards.

Requirements

• Strong self-sufficiency and initiative when working on database projects.
• Ability to manage internal and external Microsoft SQL database security.
• Strong analytical, organizational, documentation, and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a dynamic, deadline-oriented environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 3–5 years of experience developing Windows and/or web-based SQL applications, including 1–3 years in a database management role.
• Experience managing multiple Microsoft SQL Server 2005/2008 databases on large systems.
• Practical experience monitoring and tuning databases, with in-depth hands-on experience in Transact-SQL and stored procedures.
• In-depth SQL Server database administration experience.

Nice to have

• Microsoft SQL Server certification.
