PPL Commissioning Engineer (Principal)

Location: Plainfield, Illinois, United States; permanent regional engineering office with site assignments requiring 6–12 months when projects require it

What you will do

• Lead site commissioning, start-up, and operations as Person In Charge when required.
• Develop system scoping documents, turnover packages, schedules, testing procedures, reports, and commissioning plans.
• Manage pre-commissioning, start-up, ramp-up, handover, and facility performance testing activities.
• Coordinate engineering, construction, project management, clients, and other engineering disciplines.
• Provide subject-matter expertise, home-office consulting, procedures, systemization, and technical guidance to commissioning teams.
• Support project execution plans, cost estimates, subcontract requirements, risk management, and training of less experienced specialists.

Requirements

• Accredited BSChE, BSME, or BSEE engineering degree, or 10+ years of related industry experience.
• 15+ years of commissioning engineering experience.
• Experience with home-office systemization, design reviews, procedure development, and/or manual development.
• Familiarity with OSHA, NEC, IEEE, NFPA, and ANSI codes and standards.
• Ability to use computer applications and specialized engineering tools.
• Broad technical knowledge of commissioning and ability to communicate complex technical solutions to engineers and non-engineers.
• Subject-matter expertise in SIMOPS and parallel commissioning execution with construction.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally on short notice, accept 6–12 month site assignments, and work extended start-up hours such as 7–12s while maintaining mental focus.
• Ability to maintain and renew applicable professional licenses.
