Senior Staff Software Engineer (SAP Connectors)

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain high-performance ABAP components, including function modules, classes, CDS views, and enhancements.
• Architect outbound interfaces using OData, standard and generic DataSources, ODP/ODQ delta frameworks, and RFC connections.
• Modernize SAP test environments and support current connectors, public cloud, and BTP integrations.
• Optimize extraction throughput and reliability across SAP ECC and S/4HANA by resolving performance bottlenecks and delta synchronization issues.
• Support enterprise customers with connectivity, authorization, configuration, and SAP environment troubleshooting.
• Define technical design standards and documentation while partnering with engineering, support, and customers.

Requirements

• 10+ years of hands-on SAP development experience, including classic and modern ABAP, ABAP OO, and ABAP for HANA.
• Deep knowledge of SAP outbound interfacing, including OData v2/v4, SEGW, SAP extractors, standard and generic DataSources, ODP/ODQ, CDS-based extraction, RFC, BAPIs, destinations, and tRFC/qRFC.
• Working knowledge of SAP ECC and S/4HANA, including differences in data models and extraction options.
• Knowledge of SQL, query performance and tuning, SAP HANA, relational databases, SAP data models, and key modules such as FI/CO, MM, and SD.
• Experience with SAP authorizations and technical user and role setup for interfaces.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, code review, design, and testing skills.
• Fluent English and the ability to explain technical topics to non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to use conversational AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, and internal chatbots for SDLC artifacts including TDDs, PRDs, postmortems, test plans, and proposals.

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP and connecting SAP to cloud data platforms.
• Java development experience.
• Familiarity with data integration and ELT tools and data warehousing concepts.
• Knowledge of SLT, SAP Datasphere, BW, and SAP BTP.
