Senior Design Engineer (Electronic Security Systems)

Location: Remote, USA; travel to active job sites is required, including onsite new-hire training.

What you will do

• Lead commercial Electronic Security Systems design projects across the full lifecycle, from sales concepts through design development, construction documentation, and construction administration.
• Work with clients and cross-functional teams to define requirements, specifications, designs, budgets, timelines, and project expectations.
• Develop security floor layouts, wiring diagrams, schematics, backboard layouts, bills of materials, and customer RFP documentation.
• Create 30%, 60%, 90%, 100% IFC, and shop drawings using AutoCAD and Revit.
• Research and recommend technology options, perform drawing quality control, and ensure scope, schedule, and quality requirements are met.
• Provide client interaction, project guidance, mentorship, technical training, and support for multi-region project delivery.

Requirements

• Associate degree or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience leading engineering efforts in access control, video surveillance, and intrusion detection systems.
• Strong understanding of system integration, project engineering processes, internal and external project lifecycles, and field-to-office feedback loops.
• Experience with process improvement, technical governance, cross-functional coordination, vendor relationships, and enterprise-level technology training.
• Effective communication with internal teams, vendors, clients, and executive stakeholders.
• Analytical, organizational, and time-management skills, including performance-data analysis, trend identification, operational efficiency, and documentation quality.
• Ability to coach, mentor, and lead engineering teams in a dynamic environment.
• 5–7+ years of experience in ESS systems design, integration, or engineering required.
• Ability to travel to active job sites and provide onsite guidance and training throughout project lifecycles.

Nice to have

• Background in Security Systems, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 2+ years of team leadership or engineering management experience.
• Familiarity with Lenel, CCure, Honeywell, Brivo, Milestone, ExacqVision, Eagle Eye, Axis, and Hanwha.
• Industry certifications in access control or video surveillance, such as Lenel OnGuard or Milestone.
• Experience with enterprise networking, IP-based ESS architecture, AutoCAD, BIM, Revit, multi-discipline technical teams, and regional or enterprise-scale project delivery.
