Associate Commercial Counsel (Gaming)

Location: San Francisco Bay Area or Remote (U.S.)

Base salary: $200,000–$225,000 USD annually, excluding equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Draft, negotiate, and close high-volume commercial agreements covering advertising, API and SDK integrations, commerce, in-app purchases, and ad technology.
• Negotiate intellectual property licensing agreements with gaming, anime, and entertainment licensors for digital collectibles and in-app content.
• Advise on sponsorships, marketing initiatives, payments, platform agreements, payment processors, gift cards, app stores, and developer programs.
• Structure monetization and revenue models involving virtual currency, bundled subscriptions, rewards programs, and revenue sharing.
• Build scalable contract templates, playbooks, modular forms, and self-service legal processes.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor degree and active membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar; eligibility to register as in-house counsel in California.
• At least 4 years of commercial transactional experience; experience combining top law firm and/or technology-company in-house work is preferred.
• Experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements, including technology licensing, platform integrations, and revenue partnerships.
• Experience with advertising, gaming, digital media, data privacy, and consumer internet matters.
• Understanding of privacy principles, especially for commercial agreements involving the transfer of personal information.
• Familiarity with marketing legal issues, including copyright, privacy, and consumer protection.
• Ability to manage a high-volume docket, prioritize effectively, and meet business timelines.
• Sound business judgment and ability to provide practical, risk-calibrated advice in fast-moving, ambiguous situations.
• Excellent communication skills, including translating complex legal issues for non-lawyer stakeholders and working independently.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with payments, virtual currency, subscription, or bundling arrangements.
• Experience working with international or APAC counterparties.
