Senior Counsel, Legal & Business Affairs

Location: Hybrid role based in Irvine, California, USA; in-office attendance is an essential function of the position.

Salary: $196,000–$245,000 per year, full time.

What you will do

• Draft, negotiate, and advise on complex agreements covering business development, brand partnerships, video game development and distribution, vendor procurement, talent and influencer engagements, SaaS and technology services, DPAs, and ad monetization.
• Manage legal matters and transactions from inception through execution while balancing legal risk with business objectives.
• Review marketing and promotional campaigns, sweepstakes, contests, CRM initiatives, trailers, PR activities, and other consumer-facing activations.
• Draft terms and conditions and advise on intellectual property rights, consents, clearances, and marketing compliance.
• Advise stakeholders and senior leadership on applicable laws, regulations, and evolving legal requirements.
• Support legal operations improvements, collaborate with privacy and affiliate legal teams, and manage outside counsel relationships.

Requirements

• In-office attendance is required for supervision, collaboration, information sharing, and effective understanding of stakeholder business needs.
• Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Membership in good standing of any state bar and eligibility for registration as in-house counsel in California.
• 8+ years of experience as an attorney, preferably including extensive commercial contract negotiation and close collaboration with business development, partnerships, business teams, and senior executives.
• Ability to independently provide practical, business-oriented legal advice on complex legal and business matters.
• Ability to manage a varied and complex workload, prioritize effectively, assess legal and business risks, and operate in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent oral and written communication, judgment, collaboration, negotiation, and leadership skills.
