AWS Cloud Infrastructure Engineer

Location: Crewe, Cheshire, United Kingdom; hybrid with a minimum of 3 days per week in the office

What you will do

• Operate, maintain and improve AWS infrastructure across compute, storage, database and serverless services.
• Build and manage infrastructure with Terraform and AWS CloudFormation, and develop automation for provisioning, configuration, patching, scaling and platform management.
• Support cloud networking, including VPCs, routing, security groups, DNS and load balancing.
• Support containerised environments using Kubernetes, Amazon EKS and Docker.
• Develop monitoring, alerting and observability capabilities to improve reliability and performance.
• Partner with development, DevOps and cybersecurity teams while supporting security, vulnerability remediation, capacity planning, cost management and infrastructure incident resolution.

Requirements

• Degree-level education with a minimum 2:2 Lower Second Class Honours.
• Hands-on experience administering AWS infrastructure, including EC2, VPC, S3, RDS, CloudWatch, ECS, EKS and Lambda.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code, preferably Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Experience with scripting and automation using Python, Bash or similar technologies, alongside strong Linux administration skills.
• Experience working with containers, preferably Docker, Kubernetes and Amazon EKS.
• Strong understanding of cloud security principles, including IAM, least-privilege access, encryption and vulnerability management.
• Experience troubleshooting complex infrastructure and availability issues, with knowledge of incident, change and problem management.

Nice to have

• Experience integrating Infrastructure as Code into CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of cloud cost optimisation and FinOps practices.
• Understanding of Site Reliability Engineering principles and practices.
• Experience in ITIL, ISO 27001 or Cyber Essentials Plus environments.
