Senior DevOps Engineer (GitHub)

Location: London, England, United Kingdom; candidates must be based in the UK and have existing right to work in the UK.

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions, reusable workflows, composite actions, and self-hosted runners.
• Define GitHub repository structures, branching strategies, pull request workflows, branch protection rules, and access controls.
• Migrate and consolidate repositories and pipelines from Jenkins, GitLab, Bitbucket, and other tools into GitHub.
• Automate development workflows with Python and Bash, and build containerized applications with Docker for deployment to AWS ECS/Fargate.
• Use Terraform within delivery pipelines, troubleshoot build and deployment issues, and implement lasting fixes.
• Improve pipeline reliability, speed, monitoring, logging, documentation, and DevOps practices in collaboration with developers, engineering leads, and customer stakeholders.

Requirements

• 6+ years of hands-on experience in DevOps, platform engineering, or a similar technical role.
• Strong demonstrable experience with GitHub, including GitHub Actions, workflow design, and CI/CD pipeline development.
• Good knowledge of Git workflows, branching strategies, pull request processes, and repository governance.
• Experience writing Python automation scripts; hands-on Docker and containerized deployment experience.
• Production experience with AWS and understanding of CI/CD security practices, including secrets management and access control.
• Ability to troubleshoot pipeline and deployment issues independently.
• Strong communication skills and confidence working as an embedded member of a customer's technical team.
• Hands-on approach and comfort working in a large enterprise where processes may not be clearly defined.

Nice to have

• GitHub Enterprise administration or experience rolling GitHub out across multiple teams.
• Experience migrating pipelines from Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Bitbucket Pipelines to GitHub Actions.
• GitHub Actions or GitHub Administration certification.
• Terraform and Infrastructure as Code experience.
• Amazon ECS/Fargate or Kubernetes experience.
• Experience in aviation, travel, or other highly regulated environments.
