Network and Security Engineer (Cloudflare)

What you will do

• Own and operate the Cloudflare security stack, including WAF, DDoS protection, Bot Management, Rate Limiting, API Shield, and Zero Trust.
• Configure and tune WAF rules, managed rulesets, firewall policies, and network segmentation across cloud and on-premise environments.
• Manage DNS, SSL/TLS, caching, Page Rules, Workers, Load Balancing, and Cloudflare Logpush to support performance and resilience.
• Monitor traffic and logs, investigate anomalies and attacks, and build alerting for traffic spikes, attack patterns, and misconfigurations.
• Respond to DDoS and bot incidents, maintain runbooks, conduct access reviews, and drive post-incident improvements.
• Automate configuration with Terraform/IaC and the Cloudflare API while partnering with SRE, DevSecOps, and Engineering to secure new services.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in network or firewall security, including 2+ years of hands-on Cloudflare experience.
• Strong WAF rule-writing, traffic analysis, and log analysis skills.
• Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S, TLS, BGP basics, VPNs, and Zero Trust.
• Experience with enterprise firewalls such as Palo Alto, Fortinet, or pfSense, plus cloud security groups and NACLs.
• Scripting and automation skills in Python and Bash, with infrastructure-as-code experience; Terraform is preferred.
• Familiarity with SIEM tools, monitoring and alerting setups, and incident response workflows.

Nice to have

• Cloudflare certifications, CCNA/CCNP Security, Security+, or a similar certification.
• Fintech or high-traffic platform experience.
