Staff Software Engineer, Fullstack (Card Experiences) (AI)

Location: Remote US or Remote Canada. Remote-first work is available within the country of employment; occasional in-person office work and in-person onboarding may be required.

Base pay: $230,000–$290,000 for CA, WA, NY, NJ, and CT; $204,000–$264,000 for all other U.S. states.

What you will do

• Set technical strategy for the team over a year-long horizon and connect it to business-impacting projects.
• Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics throughout the product development lifecycle.
• Define and advocate for technical solutions and operational processes that increase team effectiveness.
• Own service operations and availability, including monitoring, triage rotations, playbooks, policies, testing, alerting, and on-call readiness.
• Establish code review and design standards, promote quality and ownership, and share practices through writing and tech talks.
• Develop engineering talent through feedback, guidance, and technical leadership.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale, including 8+ total years as a software engineer.
• Backend development experience with languages such as Python or Kotlin.
• Experience developing highly available distributed systems using technologies such as AWS, MySQL, Spark, and Kubernetes.
• Proficiency in developing web applications with declarative UI frameworks such as React Native, React, or Vue.
• Experience designing, developing, and launching systems at scale.
• Experience delivering major features or system components, or deprecating existing functionality, through technical and execution planning.
• Ability to write high-quality, understandable code and work from low-level language idioms through large-system architecture.
• Comfort working in ambiguity, adopting current technologies, and applying AI safely to engineering work.
• Strong evidence of gathering and iterating on feedback from engineering and cross-functional peers, plus strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
