Lead Software Engineer (Java, MS SQL)

Location: Buffalo, New York, United States of America; hybrid schedule with four days onsite and one day working from home.

Salary: $116,400–$194,000 annual USD.

What you will do

• Develop clean, efficient, secure, and resilient applications within approved SDLC processes.
• Write and migrate applications from .NET to Java, including Java Cucumber test automation.
• Review and approve designs, pull requests, requirement plans, testing methodology, and code coverage.
• Drive performance testing, resiliency, optimization, source control, and production deployment practices.
• Contribute to application architecture, engineering patterns, technical requirements, and continuous process improvement.
• Coach team members, communicate architecture and delivery challenges, and present work to technical and business stakeholders.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree plus at least 7 years of systems analysis and/or application development experience, or a bachelor’s degree plus at least 5 years of such experience.
• In lieu of a degree, at least 9 years of combined education and/or relevant work experience, including at least 5 years of systems analysis and/or application development experience.
• Java development experience, including transitioning and rewriting applications from .NET to Java.
• MS SQL and Git source control experience.
• Expert proficiency in at least one programming language and moderate proficiency in at least one additional language.
• Ability to work with data structures and algorithms, application architecture, secure coding, testing, performance, and resiliency practices.
• Ability to work autonomously, manage multiple complex projects, drive milestones, and lead projects or initiatives.
• Strong analytical, organizational, time management, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Ability to partner with and present to multiple technology and business stakeholders.

Nice to have

• BI dashboards experience.
• Dynatrace.
• Red Hat Ansible for automation.
• Familiarity with ServiceNow for production support tracking.
