Software Engineer Team Leader (Mainframe)

Location: Hybrid/onsite, with regular full days in the office three or more days a week; must be within a reasonable driving distance to Hoover/Birmingham, Alabama, Atlanta, Georgia, or Charlotte, North Carolina. Applicants must be currently authorized to work full-time in the United States. No relocation assistance is provided.

Salary: $127,767.75 minimum to $168,210.00 median USD annually; eligibility for the Long Term Incentive Plan.

What you will do

• Assign, direct, coach, teach, and mentor team members while planning assignments, estimating effort, evaluating progress, and supporting performance reviews.
• Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and continuously improve software applications using custom and off-the-shelf tools.
• Lead work on mainframe and distributed systems for document composition, print, and PDF generation.
• Collaborate with architects, business users, project managers, Scrum Masters, and engineers to deliver sustainable solutions.
• Troubleshoot technical and functional issues, improve application performance, complete technical documentation, and conduct code reviews and integration testing.
• Support compliance remediation, risk management, cybersecurity practices, disciplined change management, and process improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Seven years of related experience.
• Experience with test-driven development and agile development processes.
• Ability to estimate work efforts, manage project execution and prioritization, and work within aggressive timelines.
• Leadership, coaching, teaching, mentoring, analytical, decision-making, problem-solving, time management, and communication skills.
• Ability to interpret and ensure compliance with applicable rules, regulations, and industry guidance.
• Fluency in developing and understanding sequence diagrams and class models where applicable.
• In-depth understanding of DevOps and formal Software Development Life Cycle processes.
• Willingness to work within a distributed team.
• Experience with mainframe modernization, architectural design, guidance, documentation, agile methodologies, continuous improvement, problem solving, accountability, and effective communication.
• Banking industry experience.

Nice to have

• In-depth understanding of design patterns and their application.
• Document composition tool experience, such as CSF Designer.
• GitHub and Harness deployment understanding and experience.
• Voltage software experience.
• Print AFP file composition tool experience, such as Precisely/Streamweaver or BCC products.
