Portfolio & Program Management Director (Biotechnology)

Location: Boston, MA, United States. Hybrid arrangement allows remote work up to two days per week, or on-site work five days per week with ad hoc flexibility.

Base salary: $162,200–$243,200 annually, plus eligibility for annual bonus and equity awards.

What you will do

• Lead portfolio planning and oversee Research programs and projects from early research through candidate preclinical development.
• Direct priority cross-functional programs, driving planning, execution, decisions, milestones, and delivery.
• Partner with the CGT Site Head, Chief of Staff, Program Leaders, and stakeholders on portfolio updates, risks, milestones, resources, and site objectives.
• Establish integrated timelines, reporting, governance, critical paths, interdependencies, and risk mitigation plans.
• Lead resource allocation and budgeting assumptions while managing constraints, synergies, and redundancies across the portfolio.
• Build, manage, coach, and retain PPM staff while improving team and portfolio performance.

Requirements

• Advanced degree in Life Sciences or a relevant field; a PhD is preferred, or equivalent relevant education and professional training.
• Typically 10 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Significant portfolio and program management experience in drug discovery and/or early development, including leadership of cross-functional teams and complex project portfolios.
• Demonstrated ability to lead complex projects in a fast-paced Research environment and translate strategic priorities into executable plans.
• Proven ability to drive accountability and delivery across matrixed cross-functional teams.
• Comprehensive knowledge of project and portfolio management principles, practices, tools, technologies, and methods.
• Comprehensive pharmaceutical drug discovery and development knowledge across multiple disciplines.
• Excellent written, oral, and presentation skills; strong collaboration, organization, prioritization, and independent execution abilities.
• Experience with Risk Analysis, Decision Analysis, and Contingency Planning.

Nice to have

• PhD in Life Sciences or a relevant field.
• Curiosity, sound judgment, and interest in adopting advances in AI, technology, automation, and industry trends to improve decision-making and innovation.
