Portfolio Leader (Cross Portfolio + Strategy & Operations) (Biopharma)

Expected salary range: $167,800–$311,600 annually, based on the primary California location. A discretionary annual bonus may be available.

What you will do

• Partner with the Head of PSM and PSM Leadership Team to translate strategic vision into actionable priorities and implement PSM-wide initiatives.
• Architect and steward the PSM ecosystem, including culture, communications, operating frameworks, leadership meetings, and organizational health.
• Build systems to match team skills and interests with high-impact business needs and PSM priorities.
• Represent PSM on Product Development workstreams and maintain portfolio networks across gRED, pRED, and GPS.
• Lead cross-portfolio strategy, special projects, portfolio assessments, and executive-ready insights on risk, value, competitive positioning, and performance.
• Support portfolio-level decisions by evaluating strategic options, investment trade-offs, valuation inputs, business cases, and risk assessments.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or an advanced degree in science, business, or a related field is preferred.
• At least 10 years of experience in operations, strategy, and/or R&D within the biopharma industry.
• Experience developing strategy and linking strategy to tactics.
• Structured problem-solving and strategic thinking skills, including framing ambiguous questions, synthesizing information, and developing practical recommendations.
• Strong organizational and project management skills, including setting priorities, managing milestones and dependencies, and delivering special projects.
• Strong understanding of the drug development lifecycle.
• Experience in cross-portfolio strategy or portfolio management, including assessing portfolio dynamics, strategic options, and prioritization trade-offs.
• Strong analytical acumen to interpret portfolio-level risk and value assessments, business cases, metrics, and benchmarks and turn them into actionable recommendations.
• Experience serving as a strategic thought partner to senior leaders and teams, driving change and innovation, and leading complex cross-functional initiatives.
