Virtual Design Construction Intern (BIM)

Location: Germantown, Maryland, United States; full time in office

Salary: $22.00–$24.00 per hour

What you will do

• Develop and maintain BIM models, project documentation, Revit families, content libraries, and project standards under VDC staff direction.
• Update and coordinate models throughout design and construction phases, including model review, clash detection, issue tracking, and coordination activities.
• Create and organize construction drawings, model deliverables, project documentation, and digital project data.
• Support field verification, measurement collection, existing-condition documentation, reality capture, scan-to-BIM, point-cloud review, and model development.
• Attend project and coordination meetings and collaborate with VDC specialists, designers, engineers, and multidisciplinary project teams.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing an associate or bachelor's degree, technical certification, or related education in Construction Management, Engineering Technology, BIM, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong interest in BIM, Virtual Design & Construction, and the architecture, engineering, and construction industry.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
• Strong organizational, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
• U.S. citizenship is required because the role supports a federal contract.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Autodesk Revit and other BIM/VDC software.
• Basic understanding of construction methods and building systems.
• Previous coursework, internship experience, or exposure to BIM, CAD, construction, or engineering technology.
• Experience with Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, or related design software.
