Head of Finance & Strategy (Insurance)

Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands; hybrid working.

Salary: €100,000–€140,000 per year depending on experience and scope.

What you will do

• Automate financial reporting so management can steer on current-week numbers.
• Strengthen the monthly close and controls across entities.
• Own reporting used by carriers, auditors and regulators.
• Challenge business cases, budgets, assumptions and financing scenarios as a strategic finance partner.
• Lead cross-functional improvements and bring teams through change.
• Coach the finance team and shape its growth.

Requirements

• Experience leading projects in strategy or operations consulting and hands-on experience in a finance department, ideally at a scaleup.
• Strong accounting knowledge sufficient to review a close, challenge a controller and identify issues in a P&L or financial model; direct journal-entry booking is not required.
• Ability to take ownership, identify problems, propose solutions and implement them.
• Ability to work across detail and strategy, from reconciliations to financing scenarios.
• Default approach of automating processes rather than relying on spreadsheets.
• Fluent English required; Dutch is a plus.
• The role is unsuitable for candidates who prefer maintaining an established finance function, overseeing rather than doing, or waiting for a finished playbook.
