Proposal Lead - World Bank

Location: Hybrid, Nairobi, Kenya; also open to candidates located in and with the right to work in Germany or the UK

Salary (UK): GBP 58,476–GBP 69,440 annually

What you will do

• Lead complex and strategic public proposals from capture strategy through submission, including team coordination, calendars, deadlines, writing, production, consortium management, and after-action reviews.
• Develop opportunity-specific positioning and capture strategies with regional, country, and technical teams, including donor mapping, SWOT analysis, and win themes.
• Review and draft expressions of interest, concept notes, and proposals for quality, compliance, donor standards, technical coherence, and value for money.
• Support stakeholder, donor, partner, government, and consortium engagement, including pitches and recruitment of proposal key personnel.
• Advise teams on funding approaches and evidence-driven Go/No Go decisions.
• Improve business development processes, conduct learning reviews, support knowledge management, and mentor staff leading major bids.

Requirements

• At least six years of focused experience with major institutional donors on large and complex procurements, including extensive World Bank experience.
• Fluency in English and French required.
• Strong knowledge of World Bank compliance, rules, and regulations, with familiarity with other relevant donor policies.
• Familiarity with standard business development processes and willingness to apply IRC guidelines.
• Successful experience managing complex, multi-year, multi-partner proposals with minimal supervision.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including relationship management in multicultural environments.
• Ability to collaborate with remote and diverse teams, including as a proposal team leader.
• Ability to work accurately under pressure in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
• Ability to travel internationally for up to 20% of the time.

Nice to have

• Experience with FCDO, French AFD, German BMZ, or other multilateral and bilateral donors.
• Experience managing large development or humanitarian programs and understanding program implementation and donor engagement across the project cycle.
• Lived or professional experience in Sub-Saharan Africa.
