TL;DR
Principal Analog Mixed-Signal Design Engineer (Optical) (RF/Analog, TIA, SiGe BiCMOS and CMOS FinFET): Designing and validating multi-tens-of-GHz transimpedance amplifiers and broadband optical receiver circuits with an accent on transistor-level design, millimeter-wave structures, and high-performance analog front ends. Focus on tape-out and lab evaluation, correlating simulations with measurements, and supporting post-silicon validation through mass production.

Location: Ottawa, Ontario, Canada; additional location in Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Expected base pay: CAD 164,000–218,700 per annum, plus eligibility for bonus and equity plans.

Company

hirify.global develops semiconductor solutions for enterprise, cloud, AI, carrier, data center, and telecom infrastructure.

What you will do

  • Design and validate multi-tens-of-GHz transimpedance amplifiers for coherent long-haul, metro, and PAM4 data center systems.
  • Develop high-performance broadband analog circuits for optical front-end receivers using SiGe BiCMOS and CMOS FinFET technologies.
  • Design transmission-line and millimeter-wave structures, active circuits, linear regulators, AGC loops, sensors, and bandgaps.
  • Measure IC performance, debug designs, and correlate simulations with laboratory measurements.
  • Collaborate on post-silicon validation, qualification, mass-production transition, and customer support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with 10+ years of industry experience, or a Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering with 7+ years of industry experience designing high-performance RF/analog receivers or TIAs.
  • Proven high-performance receiver design experience including chip tape-out and laboratory evaluation.
  • Experience using EDA CAD tools and performing analog custom layout.
  • Experience measuring IC performance and debugging designs to correlate simulations with measurements.
  • Deep understanding of transistor-level design, device physics, and control/feedback-loop stability analysis.
  • Experience with different technologies; SiGe BiCMOS and FinFET CMOS experience is advantageous.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and documentation skills; ability to work as a team player.

Nice to have

  • Project experience with automatic gain-control loops, high-precision analog circuits, linear regulators, current sensors, bandgaps, DAC/ADC, or continuous-time linear equalizers.
  • Experience with package-system integration issues.
  • Experience overseeing and mentoring junior circuit designers, serving as a successful chip lead, taking chips to mass production, or translating chip-level specifications into architecture.

Culture & Benefits

  • Collaborative, transparent, and inclusive work environment.
  • Competitive compensation with bonus and equity plans, including a new-hire equity grant and annual equity refreshers.
  • Resources and support for professional growth and development.
  • Employment consideration is provided without discrimination based on protected characteristics.
  • Applicants must be eligible to access export-controlled technology and software; export license review may be required before employment.
  • AI tools are prohibited during interviews; unauthorized use may result in disqualification.

Hiring process

  • Interviews evaluate individual experience, thought process, and communication skills in real time without unauthorized AI assistance.
  • Export-control eligibility and, where applicable, export licensing are reviewed before employment.
