Engineering Manager (Fintech)

Location: Barcelona, Spain; hybrid model with up to 3 days working from home per week after the first 2 months. You may work from another place within your country and abroad for up to 25% of working time.

Salary: €70,000–€75,000 fixed annual salary plus €5,000 variable compensation.

What you will do

• Lead the EMI Services group of Tech Leads, Software Developers, and QA professionals, overseeing delivery and technical performance across products maintained by the squads.
• Manage product-oriented development squads and contribute to the Engineering Department’s vision and organization.
• Recruit and onboard team members, build cohesion, and establish goals and KPIs for team performance and development quality.
• Coach and support Lead Developers, Developers, and QAs while running delivery rituals and improving team effectiveness.
• Connect squads with external stakeholders and help teams understand business, regulatory, and security requirements.
• Challenge technical decisions, guide solutions aligned with business objectives, and drive AI adoption through measurable use cases.

Requirements

• Solid experience in software development.
• At least 2 years of proven experience supporting and managing engineering teams in a fast-paced environment, with successful team development and project delivery.
• Fluent Spanish and English required.
• Ability to mentor and guide team members while fostering collaboration, productivity, and continuous learning.
• Ability to balance development quality with delivery velocity.
• Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to Product, DevOps, Compliance, and Legal stakeholders.
• French is a plus.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of Python, microservices architecture, or gRPC.
• Previous experience in a fintech environment.

Hiring process

• HR online interview followed by a CPTO online interview.
• Case study resolution and online discussion with the CPTO and another EM or SPM.
• On-site interview with Tech Leads and Product Owner, followed by a call with the CHRO.
