Senior Manager, Software Engineering (Card)

Location: Remote Spain; candidates must be based in Spain. The role is remote-first, with occasional in-person work possible and an in-person onboarding experience for new hires.

Base pay in Spain: €119,000–€155,000 per year, plus potential equity, monthly stipends, and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead teams responsible for integrations with partners and processors, internationalization, and card product development.
• Define the technical direction, long-term roadmap, and strategic initiatives for Cards.
• Reduce the time required to integrate external partners and support card launches in new countries.
• Guide architecture, reliability, quality, scalability, and technical excellence decisions across systems.
• Hire engineers and managers in Spain and Poland, build a strong culture, and mentor managers and engineers.
• Participate in the required on-call rotation and promote AI-enabled engineering practices.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years managing engineering teams and 2+ years managing managers.
• Experience leading a multi-team engineering organization through a multi-year technical strategy and converting ambiguous requirements into shipped deliverables.
• Technical depth to guide architecture, reliability, and quality decisions across a portfolio of systems while enabling technical leads and architects to make decisions.
• Ability to make investment and prioritization decisions with incomplete consensus, and to change direction when evidence changes.
• Ability to explain strategy, risk, and trade-offs to engineers, cross-functional partners, and executives.
• Experience developing managers into senior leaders and building teams where diverse perspectives are included and valued on merit.
• Equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Must be based in Spain for the role.
• Availability for the required on-call rotation.
