Senior Engineering Manager (AI)

Location: Barcelona, Spain; remote or hybrid work model with the Barcelona hub.

What you will do

• Lead the Booking & Availability engineering team across availability rules, scheduling, booking notifications, waiting lists, and Noa Reception.
• Own team performance management, hiring, coaching, growth plans, reviews, and succession development.
• Partner with Product and Design to prioritize foundations, experiments, user validation, and cross-team shared components.
• Own scheduling-engine reliability, including concurrent booking correctness, recurring rules, time zones, incident response, and data-driven quality improvements.
• Stay hands-on in the codebase by prototyping, implementing features, and making architectural changes.
• Drive AI-native development practices, track impact through concrete metrics, and coordinate dependencies across PMS teams and organizations.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience.
• 4+ years leading engineering teams in product companies, including hiring, growth, and performance management.
• Experience driving platform or shared-component work across multiple teams or systems without controlling all priorities.
• Experience shipping systems where uptime and data integrity have real consequences, with the technical depth to own pragmatic architecture and quality decisions.
• Demonstrated success growing engineers and handling difficult performance situations.
• Hands-on experience using AI to accelerate coding, review, and refactoring, including judgment about when not to use it.
• Experience driving AI adoption across a team, including supporting skeptical or hesitant engineers.
• Ability to manage dependencies and stakeholders across organizations with different incentives.
• Founder mindset, fast experimentation, user validation, comfort with ambiguity, and willingness to try new approaches.
• Fluent English.

Nice to have

• Experience with scheduling, calendaring, or booking systems.
• Production experience with LLM-powered or conversational chat or voice products, including evaluation and guardrails.
• Experience with notification systems at scale, including SMS, email, or push delivery.
• Exposure to healthcare, clinic workflows, or regulated data environments.
• Experience working at scale.
• Spanish or another language used in the company’s markets.
