Engineering Director (AI)

Location: Hybrid work model with a hub in Barcelona, Spain; flexible working hours.

hirify.global operates a healthcare platform used by around 100 million patients monthly and more than 300,000 doctors across 13 markets, with AI embedded in discovery, booking, engagement, care and payments.

What you will do

• Own engineering strategy and roadmap across Marketplace, Patient Engagement and Payments, connecting technical priorities to product outcomes and business metrics.
• Lead approximately 75 engineers through managers, clarify ownership, develop leaders and strengthen the engineering leadership bench.
• Partner with Product and Design to deliver AI features across search, booking, engagement, continuity of care and payments.
• Set standards for AI-assisted coding, testing and review, including quality, security and privacy controls.
• Guide architecture and engineering standards across markets while balancing delivery speed, reliability, security, privacy and scale.
• Align with engineering peers and executives on shared platforms, technical trade-offs, priorities and company-wide technology decisions.

Requirements

• Experience leading multi-team engineering organisations through managers, growing leaders and delivering through change.
• Daily, practical fluency with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor or Copilot, with clear judgment about their strengths, limits and risks; deep ML experience is not required.
• Product mindset with the ability to connect engineering strategy to customer outcomes, business results and product usage.
• Technical depth across architecture, delivery, reliability and security, with comfort working at implementation detail.
• Strong partnership skills with Product, Design, Data and business leaders, including comfort with executives and ambiguity.
• Experience with marketplaces and complex, high-stakes products where reliability, privacy and security matter.
