Senior Banking Application Support Engineer

Location: Lisbon or Porto, Portugal; hybrid work with up to 2 remote days per week. Applicants must already have the legal right to work in the European Union.

Salary: €3,990–€4,830 B2B, or €2,100–€2,400 net under a permanent contract.

What you will do

• Coordinate technical changes and operational activities, including electrical shutdowns and server relocations.
• Create, maintain, and improve operational instructions, procedures, and technical documentation.
• Document application components, software and technical architectures, operational procedures, and supervision requirements.
• Produce and commission application versions, manage treatment scheduling, and coordinate with development, maintenance, systems, database, and network teams.
• Diagnose and resolve production incidents while supporting the standardization, automation, and industrialization of production applications.

Requirements

• At least 8 years of experience in application support or production engineering.
• Hands-on experience with Windows and Unix environments.
• Experience with Shell/KSH, Python, or PowerShell scripting.
• Practical database experience with Oracle, Sybase, SQL Server, or MySQL.
• Experience with BMC, Control-M, or another industrial scheduling tool.
• Strong understanding of application operations, technical documentation, and production processes.
• Availability for staggered hours between 07:00 and 18:30 and on-call rotations, including weekends.
• Existing legal right to work in the European Union.
• Fluent English required.

Nice to have

• Experience commissioning application versions with cross-functional technical teams.
• Knowledge of production supervision requirements and operational industrialization.
• Experience supporting applications in banking or another similarly critical environment.
