Component Engineer (Automotive)

Location: Bucharest, Romania; hybrid work with most office-based roles onsite three days a week.

Annual gross base salary: lei 246,000–lei 360,800.

What you will do

• Manage the component master database, component data quality, and library standardization.
• Support design centers and manufacturing sites with component applications, alternative solutions, failure analysis, PCN handling, and shortage response.
• Define multi-sourcing specifications and verify sources through technical evaluation and simulation.
• Study emerging technologies, evaluate and develop suppliers, and conduct supplier technology assessments.
• Contribute to component management tools, rules, processes, and preference strategy evolution.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering, electronics, automation, micro-electrics, or a related field.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in component engineering or hardware schematic design.
• Hands-on knowledge of the operating principles, specifications, characterization, and applications of multiple electronic component types, including passive components, discrete components, and some ICs.
• Understanding of automotive product development, Supplier Change Request (PCN/PDN), PPAP, IATF 16949, AEC-Q100/200, and other automotive quality and stress-test procedures.
• Experience driving cross-functional collaboration and transvers projects.
• Fluent spoken and written English, with strong analytical, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
• Self-motivation, a strong sense of responsibility, leadership in cross-functional discussions, and an open, flexible, collaborative approach.

Nice to have

• Knowledge or experience in hardware design and simulation.
• Knowledge of electronic component cost structures and analysis.
• Knowledge of supplier management practices, supplier industry and risk, and global supply-chain resiliency.
• Understanding of PCB design, SMT manufacturing equipment and processes, and electronic component packages.
