Transport Manager

Location: Newbury Operation Centre, RG19 6HN, United Kingdom. The role is onsite, with working hours Monday to Friday, 8am–5pm; no weekend or bank holiday working.

Salary: up to £50,000 per annum, depending on experience.

What you will do

• Lead, recruit, induct, coach, and develop the transport team.
• Manage the day-to-day transport function to meet company and customer expectations and service level agreements.
• Drive continuous improvement and introduce better working practices.
• Build effective relationships across the operation centre and wider business.
• Maintain fleet and teammate compliance with legal, regulatory, contractual, Drivers’ Hours, and Working Time Directive requirements.
• Become the principal Operator’s Licence holder and work with the Regional Transport Manager on compliance.

Requirements

• Demonstrable people management and leadership experience.
• National or International CPC and a full UK Driving Licence required.
• Customer-service focus for internal and external customers.
• Ability to motivate and engage teammates, develop a team, and introduce new working practices.
• Ability to multitask and perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Computer literacy and familiarity with computerised transport management systems.
• Proactive, flexible approach with the ability to use initiative and work independently.
