Manager, Accounting Research & Policy (US GAAP)

Location: Chicago, United States; hybrid with 3 days on-site in the Chicago office

Salary: $119,900–$199,800 per year, plus annual target bonus and equity opportunity.

What you will do

• Lead technical accounting research for routine and complex transactions under authoritative U.S. GAAP.
• Prepare executive-ready accounting position papers documenting methodologies, interpretations, and conclusions.
• Advise business units and functional leaders on accounting implications of strategic initiatives, mergers, acquisitions, new products, and investments.
• Author and review financial statement footnotes and MD&A contributions for quarterly and annual SEC filings.
• Coordinate with external auditors and executive leadership to resolve accounting matters and support SEC compliance.
• Maintain the technical accounting repository and policy manual, monitor FASB and SEC initiatives, deliver transition education, and improve research workflows through technology and automation.

Requirements

• Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license required.
• 4+ years of progressive technical accounting, policy research, and SEC reporting experience.
• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Comprehensive knowledge of authoritative U.S. GAAP literature; IFRS familiarity is a plus.
• Proven ability to write concise technical memorandums and executive summaries for senior leadership.
• Prior accounting experience in financial services or public accounting serving financial-sector clients.
• Experience leading cross-functional change management for the interpretation and implementation of new accounting standards.
• Advanced proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office.
• Hands-on experience with Workiva (Wdesk), Workday, and SharePoint preferred.
