Technical Accountant (U.S. GAAP)

Location: Charlotte, North Carolina, United States; hybrid work with onsite client support in the Charlotte area required.

What you will do

• Research and resolve complex accounting matters under U.S. GAAP.
• Prepare technical accounting memos, position papers, and supporting documentation.
• Support SEC reporting, quarterly and year-end financial reporting, and month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
• Address complex areas including revenue recognition, leases, business combinations, consolidations, and equity.
• Provide external audit support and assist with SOX controls and documentation.
• Support accounting transformation, system implementations, process improvements, and other client-focused special projects.

Requirements

• Active CPA license required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with significant technical accounting and/or financial reporting responsibilities.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and experience researching and documenting complex accounting matters.
• Experience with SEC reporting, SOX compliance, and/or publicly traded organizations.
• Strong Excel and financial systems skills.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively across accounting, finance, audit, and business teams.
• Ability to work onsite with clients in the Charlotte area as part of a hybrid work arrangement.

Nice to have

• Public accounting experience, particularly with a Big Four or national accounting firm.
