Senior Java Engineer (AI)

Location: Hybrid, Rosslyn, VA; onsite twice a week

Salary: $115,000–$140,000 per year

What you will do

• Build and maintain Java/Spring Boot backend microservices and durable RESTful APIs for a modern Hub-and-Spoke architecture.
• Implement API endpoints, business logic, and OpenFGA data model features.
• Design event-driven architectures and integrate microservices with cloud-native platforms.
• Write unit and integration tests, debug defects, and maintain clean, reliable code.
• Contribute to documentation, code examples, code reviews, team ceremonies, and technical onboarding.
• Improve CI/CD pipelines and support continuous monitoring across operational workflows.

Requirements

• Secret clearance required before starting.
• At least 4 years of professional experience.
• Hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs.
• Proficiency with core AWS services.
• High school diploma or equivalent GED required.

Nice to have

• Experience in fast-paced, mission-focused environments and collaboration with AI, DevSecOps, data engineering, platform engineering, and cybersecurity teams.
• Experience with Django, NATS, Kafka, Redis, ClickHouse, OpenTelemetry, OpenRouter, or LiteLLM.
• Prior experience with OpenFGA.
