Senior Software Engineer - Backend (AI)

Location: On-site in San Francisco, United States

Salary: Base salary of $160,000–$250,000 per year, with potential stock options in addition.

Deploy, part of hirify.global, provides production-scale infrastructure for open-source and proprietary AI models, including optimized inference and specialized content safety, deepfake detection, sponsorship intelligence, and intellectual property protection models.

What you will do

• Design, implement, and improve REST APIs, microservices, data ingestion and processing systems, and distributed task and job processing systems.
• Write and maintain scalable, performant, secure, and reusable backend code.
• Contribute to product and core backend improvements, engineering standards, tooling, processes, and security.
• Practice test-driven development and maintain high code quality.
• Debug production issues across services and multiple levels of the stack.
• Participate in on-call rotations and report or resolve security, policy, and information-asset protection issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience building scalable web applications.
• Experience or strong interest in writing applications in Node.js.
• Experience designing and implementing highly available distributed systems and microservices.
• Experience building platforms that expose scalable backend APIs.
• Deep experience with relational databases; PostgreSQL is preferred.
• Strong commitment to high code quality, automated testing, and engineering best practices.
• Attention to detail, passion for correctness, comfort with ambiguity, and ability to scope solutions with teammates.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a bias toward action.
