Security Lead, Product and Infrastructure (InfoSec) (AI)

Location: Palo Alto, California, United States

Base pay: $200,000–$420,000 USD per year, plus equity.

What you will do

• Build and scale the security function across product and infrastructure security, detection engineering, incident response, GRC, and workplace security.
• Protect proprietary model weights, training data pipelines, research clusters, source code, corporate assets, and customer-facing platforms from sophisticated adversaries.
• Design lightweight, automated, secure-by-default controls that support rapid research and development.
• Own corporate IT, identity and access management, and privacy engineering.
• Drive security research and tooling, including AI-enabled vulnerability discovery, code analysis, and defensive operations.
• Lead the compliance roadmap, represent security to customers, regulators, board members, and government partners, and recruit and mentor the security team.

Requirements

• 10+ years of security experience, with significant experience at a technology company; AI experience is preferred.
• Experience as a first or early security executive in a high-velocity, high-stakes environment, combining strategy with hands-on tooling, architecture, and incident command.
• Deep expertise in at least two of detection engineering, incident response, digital forensics, infrastructure security, product or application security, operational security, and secure software development.
• Direct experience securing cloud-native, large-scale distributed systems, container and VM environments, and high-performance compute clusters.
• Ability to build and ship security tooling or research projects, including internal platforms, open-source tools, or commercial security products.
• Strong cross-functional communication, including translating technical risk for executives, developing threat models with research leads, and reviewing code or architecture.
• Intellectual curiosity about AI safety, alignment, and security challenges in AI model and AI agent development.

Nice to have

• Experience with model-weight protection, secure multi-party computation, confidential computing, or supply-chain security at an AI lab or research organization.
• Published security research, conference talks, or open-source contributions in security engineering or defensive operations.
• Startup or venture-backed company experience.
