Founding Security Engineer (AI)

Location: San Francisco, United States; on-site. Relocation stipend to San Francisco and visa sponsorship are available if needed.

Annual salary: $200K–$400K, plus significant equity.

What you will do

• Secure the product as it reaches more enterprise customers and own security across the product, evaluation platform, and internal systems.
• Build the secure foundation for running agents, including sandboxing, credential access, tool permissions, and core development.
• Own network, vendor, access, data, customer security review, and corporate security controls.
• Identify emerging risks and attack classes, respond to incidents, and fix problems before they become incidents.
• Feed security findings into hirify.global-1 and share them with the CISO consortium through sessions and published work.

Requirements

• Experience as a founding security hire at a technical or regulated-industry company building a security program from zero, or as a core engineer at a security company.
• Production engineering experience and the ability to meet the full engineering bar, with a hands-on approach before growing into security leadership.
• Cloud and infrastructure security experience, including least-privilege IAM, SSO, development/production separation, KMS, secrets management, secure databases, user management, and identity systems.
• Experience building an agent harness and containing agents through sandboxing, tool permissions, credential isolation, and data-leak controls.
• Ability to own outcomes, maintain security standards, communicate difficult decisions, and preserve effective relationships.
• Experience building detection and logging, handling incident response, and securing SSO, devices, and SaaS.
• Experience reviewing Terraform infrastructure changes and automating security controls.
• Experience turning security research into production engineering, such as reproducing new attacks on agents and shipping defenses.
• Deep architecture experience across distributed systems, ML pipelines, or large-scale platforms.
