Senior Structural Engineer - Technical Manager (Structural Engineering)

Location: San Diego, California, United States (hybrid); periodic travel and site visits required.

Salary: $120,097–$208,053 per year.

What you will do

• Lead complex structural design studies, calculations, reports, drawings, and specifications.
• Serve as Engineer of Record when required and perform design checks, internal technical reviews, and quality control.
• Provide technical direction, redlines, mentorship, and performance feedback to structural engineers, EITs, and BIM designers.
• Manage multiple projects, including scopes, man-hour estimates, workload allocation, budgets, deadlines, and project standards.
• Support construction through submittal reviews, RFI responses, field issue resolution, corrective actions, and periodic site visits.
• Coordinate with discipline managers and clients, track action items, support project delivery, and contribute to business development.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Structural, Architectural, or Civil Engineering.
• 12+ years of relevant experience; a master’s degree may substitute for 1–2 years.
• At least 5 years of licensure as a Professional Engineer or Structural Engineer in California; Structural Engineer licensure preferred.
• Proficiency with RAM SS, RISA 3D, ETABS, Revit, Enercalc, Microsoft Excel, and MS Office Suite.
• Working knowledge of IBC, ASCE 7, ASCE 41, AISC, TMS, and ACI structural design codes.
• Experience with seismic design for new construction and seismic evaluation of existing buildings.
• Strong verbal, written, and technical communication skills, including collaboration across teams and client interaction.
• Availability for periodic travel.
