Senior Manager, Software Engineering — Case Management Platform

Location: Remote in the USA; office locations are San Carlos, CA, or Austin, TX.

What you will do

• Lead the architecture and full SDLC for the Case Management Platform Core team, from conception through operation and sunset.
• Write production code, review pull requests, conduct design reviews, and participate in production incident response.
• Hire, develop, retain, and provide career guidance to engineers while building a diverse, high-trust team.
• Drive AI-assisted development, agent orchestration, and AI-assisted operations across the team and influence peer teams.
• Partner with product management, commerce stakeholders, lab operations, and engineering teams to translate business priorities into delivery plans.
• Own estimates, scope, dependencies, risks, delivery, ceremonies, and improvements to engineering ways of working.

Requirements

• BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of professional software development experience, including meaningful experience building complex data or process-management applications.
• 3+ years leading engineering teams, with experience hiring, developing, and retaining strong engineers.
• Recent hands-on experience writing production code, leading design reviews, and troubleshooting production issues as a manager.
• Strong fluency in Java or another object-oriented language, modern cloud infrastructure, relational databases, and distributed systems.
• Experience with AWS, preferably including Lambda and other stateless/serverless patterns, and scalable, resilient, event-driven system design.
• Demonstrated adoption of AI-assisted development, agent-based workflows, or similar modern engineering practices, with the ability to enable others to use them.
• Experience partnering with product management, operations, and business stakeholders in a matrixed environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, comfort working across time zones with distributed and offshore teammates, and ability to diagnose production problems from triage through prevention.
