Senior Field Marketing Manager (AI)

Location: On-site in Chicago, Illinois, United States; regular travel to field events required.

Salary: $145,000–$160,000 annually, including base pay and a portion of variable compensation tied to company and individual performance.

What you will do

• Develop and execute field marketing strategy aligned with revenue targets and market priorities.
• Evaluate and manage a portfolio of 150–200+ annual events, including business cases, budgets, staffing, vendor contracts, and ROI optimization.
• Own the OpenGov Conference, user groups, and roundtables, including content, sponsorships, engagement, and follow-up.
• Lead and develop the field marketing team while coordinating with Operations and Finance on hiring, tools, and budgets.
• Integrate ABM, account targeting, AI, marketing automation, and demand-generation campaigns across pre- and post-event activities.
• Track pipeline, ROI, attendance quality, conversion, and SDR handoff metrics; report findings to leadership and influence go-to-market strategy.

Requirements

• 7+ years of field marketing, event marketing, or ABM experience in B2B SaaS, ideally in a high-growth company managing event portfolios at scale.
• Proven experience managing and optimizing portfolios of 20+ events annually for pipeline and ROI.
• Experience leading teams, developing talent, delegating work, and driving accountability.
• Strong financial acumen, including budget building, ROI tracking, spend optimization, and P&L accountability.
• Deep understanding of ABM strategy, account segmentation, and target-account marketing.
• Experience with Salesforce, marketing automation platforms, analytics tools, event marketing platforms, and CRM systems.
• Comfort leveraging Claude and marketing MCPs to scale field marketing execution and demand generation.
• Strategic thinking, business-case development, executive presence, stakeholder influence, and the ability to present findings to leadership.
• Results-driven approach with ownership of pipeline numbers and ROI measurement; flexibility and willingness to travel regularly to field events.

• Experience owning and executing user conferences or signature events.
• Background in user group development and community building.
• Track record building and managing event marketing teams.
• Understanding of government or public-sector marketing.
