Director I, AP English Language and Composition, Curriculum and Assessment

Location: Remote in the United States; employees near hirify.global offices may choose fully remote or hybrid work with in-office attendance on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Occasional business travel is required, including 6–8 trips per year and up to two additional weeks for AP Reading.

Hiring range: $96,000–$135,000 per year.

What you will do

• Lead assessment development, revision, review, and management for AP English Language and Composition, including formative and summative content, scoring materials, and exam forms.
• Author and review assessment content, use generative AI to improve assessment processes, and ensure alignment with approved curricula and test specifications.
• Train, supervise, and recruit educator subject-matter experts and lead Test Development Committee meetings.
• Lead annual AP Reading activities, including planning, scoring operations, and publications for teachers and students.
• Monitor exam validity, security, reliability, fairness, quality, and reader reliability; collaborate with psychometricians on cut scores and improvement initiatives.
• Refine the course framework, develop instructional products, support professional learning, and engage secondary and higher-education communities.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in English Language and Composition or a directly related discipline; knowledge of current trends in the discipline is required. A doctorate is strongly preferred.
• Expertise in English Language and Composition and at least 5 years of experience in standardized assessment development or related work.
• Strong oral and written communication, technical proficiency, organizational and planning skills, proofreading ability, and attention to detail.
• Ability to implement processes and procedures, manage project plans and schedules, and maintain tracking documentation.
• Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, including the ability to give and receive constructive feedback across organizational levels.
• Must be eligible and authorized to work in the United States.
• Ability to travel 6–8 times per year plus up to two additional weeks for AP Reading.
• Willingness to experiment with and independently adopt emerging AI-driven solutions and digital tools.
