Professional Assistant Professor (Curriculum and Instruction)

Location: Fort Worth, Texas, United States; based on the Fort Worth campus with instruction also delivered online. Teaching may be assigned at other campus locations or through approved instructional modalities.

What you will do

• Plan, prepare, and deliver undergraduate and graduate educator-preparation courses through face-to-face, hybrid, and online modalities.
• Develop syllabi, select instructional materials, and design assessments aligned with Texas Educator Standards and certification requirements.
• Assess student performance, provide feedback, and use learning-outcome data to improve courses and curricula.
• Support students through office hours, advising, mentoring, and guidance on assignments.
• Collaborate with faculty and staff to coordinate course offerings and maintain curricular consistency across sections and campuses.
• Participate in professional development and comply with university, accreditation, academic-integrity, and reporting requirements.

Requirements

• Earned doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction, Education, or a closely related field from an accredited university by the appointment date; ABD candidates may be considered with a documented completion timeline.
• At least three years of successful PK-12 teaching experience.
• Valid or previously held teacher certification.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
• Disciplinary knowledge sufficient for graduate-level instruction.
• Ability to teach effectively and interact professionally and collaboratively with students, staff, and faculty.

Nice to have

• University-level teaching experience in educator preparation.
• Expertise in literacy and reading instruction, ESL and bilingual education, special education, or science methods.
• Experience designing online and hybrid courses and using learning management systems.
• Familiarity with Texas educator certification requirements and TExES examination preparation.
• Demonstrated effectiveness teaching across multiple modalities and locations, with sustained excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching.

Culture & Benefits

• Full-time, nine-month, non-tenure-track faculty appointment; summer teaching depends on need and funding.
• Regular work hours are Monday-Friday, 8 AM-5 PM, or as teaching and work requirements indicate.
• Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience.
• The position serves as a Campus Security Authority and is security-sensitive; employment requires a criminal-history investigation and credential verification.
