Academic Designer (English Language Development)

Location: Remote; applicants must be authorized to work for any employer within the United States. Project Status Worker role ending 10/30/2027.

Salary: $50,000–$70,000 annually.

What you will do

• Plan and develop learning objectives, scope and sequence, tables of contents, lessons, videos, and teacher resources for print, digital, and media projects.
• Support prototypes, exemplars, guidelines, project proposals, and scope documentation.
• Coordinate communication between vendors, internal engineering teams, Academic Design teams, and Product Managers.
• Produce accurate, high-quality products aligned with curriculum standards, project scope, reading levels, grammar, style, and market requirements.
• Review colleagues’ and vendors’ work, identify assignment risks, recommend process improvements, and help resolve problems.
• Track emerging educational technology, curriculum trends, and literacy research.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience in literacy curriculum development and educational publishing focused on grades 6–12 literacy and English Language Development.
• Deep knowledge of secondary Reading/Language Arts and English Language Development pedagogy, including standards, frameworks, strategies, and research regarding multilingual learners.
• Knowledge of content development practices and ELA/ELD standards, including WIDA, ELPA21, California ELD, and Texas ELPS.
• Excellent verbal and written English communication, spelling, writing, grammar, accuracy, and attention to detail.
• Strong organization, time management, prioritization, multitasking, flexibility, initiative, integrity, and professionalism.
• Collaborative, goal-oriented, and able to drive innovation in teams and products.
• Understanding of digital learning, authoring systems, accessibility, and testing.
• Expert-level Microsoft Office skills and proficiency with Adobe Acrobat, Smartsheet, and K4/InCopy markup.

• Teaching experience.
