Senior Director, Legal - Global Privacy & Data Counsel (Privacy & Data)

Location: Hybrid in London, England, or San Mateo, California, with at least 2 days per week in the designated office; full relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates.

Base salary: £302,400–£453,600 per year, depending on market, geographic location, and job-related factors.

What you will do

• Lead a global privacy team spanning legal, operations, compliance, and data governance.
• Design, implement, and evolve a privacy program aligned with SIE’s data-driven technology and entertainment business.
• Monitor GDPR, CCPA, and other global privacy requirements and maintain compliant policies, notices, consent forms, and procedures.
• Embed privacy-by-design principles into products, services, and technologies while partnering with product, business, ESG, legal, and compliance teams.
• Oversee vendor privacy assessments, data processing agreements, privacy impact assessments, and scalable risk-mitigation processes.
• Develop privacy incident response processes, deliver employee training, and report program status to executive leadership and the board.

Requirements

• Juris doctor degree; a bachelor’s or advanced degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field is required, while an advanced degree is a plus.
• 20+ years of legal experience, including 10+ years in a senior privacy leadership role, preferably as a Chief Privacy Officer or Privacy Officer.
• Experience in a data-driven technology company or relevant industry.
• In-depth knowledge of global privacy laws and regulations, including GDPR, CCPA, and other regional frameworks; knowledge of emerging requirements in APAC is a strong plus.
• Demonstrated ability to design and implement comprehensive privacy programs aligned with industry practices, legal requirements, and data-use needs.
• Experience building incident response processes in partnership with a CISO or similar function and managing privacy incidents.
• Experience conducting privacy impact assessments and building scalable assessment processes.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, leadership, and change-management skills.

• Strong knowledge of emerging APAC privacy requirements.
• Privacy certifications such as CIPP, CIPM, CIPT, or other relevant certifications.
