Senior Director, Legal - Product Counsel

Location: San Mateo, California, United States; hybrid, with at least 2 days per week in the San Mateo office. Full relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates.

Base pay: $302,400–$453,600 USD annually. The role may also be eligible for a bonus package.

What you will do

• Lead the Product Counsel function and manage a team of legal professionals supporting hirify.global product teams.
• Advise product, engineering, product management, security, privacy, and legal stakeholders throughout product development, launch, and market strategy.
• Advise on U.S. and international regulatory, legal, privacy, online safety, hardware compliance, and other product-related issues.
• Formulate global legal advice in collaboration with legal teams in Europe and Asia.
• Provide pragmatic strategic and day-to-day advice, explain complex legal issues clearly, and help minimize legal risks while advancing business goals.
• Manage internal projects, training, processes, procedures, communications, and cross-functional initiatives.

Requirements

• At least 18 years of progressive experience, particularly as product counsel in a technology company and as a global lead across an organization.
• JD or LLM degree from a top law school.
• Membership in a U.S. state bar is required. California State Bar membership is preferred; at minimum, eligibility to quickly obtain and maintain Registered In-House Counsel status in California is required.
• Experience advising product development, technical, business, and support teams and working with designers, engineers, and product management.
• Experience formulating legal advice across global markets and leading teams of legal professionals.
• Legal expertise in several areas including consumer protection, FTC or DPA regulatory actions, consumer online accounts, e-commerce and digital entertainment distribution, intellectual property, privacy, data security, social media law, content regulation, FCC regulations, and legal issues affecting consumer hardware.
• Strong judgment, organizational skills, attention to detail, communication, influence, and persuasion across business, technical, and support functions.
• Ability to work with technology, consumer user-experience interfaces, consumer electronics, and connected platforms.
• Transactional experience and strong transactional skills.
• Ability to thrive in a team environment and continue learning.
