Senior Director, Product, Security and Privacy Counsel (SaaS)

Annual base salary: $260,000–$300,000 USD

What you will do

• Serve as the primary legal partner for product and engineering teams across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid offerings.
• Advise throughout the product lifecycle on feature design, data flows, APIs, integrations, platform architecture, requirements, specifications, and launch plans.
• Guide open-source software usage, contributions, licensing models, compliance obligations, governance, and related tooling.
• Advise on privacy, data protection, embedded privacy features, security controls, data handling, incident response, customer security inquiries, and audits.
• Support product-led go-to-market initiatives and scalable legal frameworks for enterprise sales, self-serve, and cloud motions.
• Monitor emerging laws affecting enterprise software, AI, data, and cloud services; assess risks, propose mitigations, develop policies and playbooks, and educate non-legal stakeholders.

Requirements

• JD or equivalent law degree and an active license in good standing in at least one jurisdiction.
• 10+ years of relevant legal experience, including significant product, technology, or commercial work.
• Experience supporting enterprise software, cloud services, or developer-focused products.
• Strong working knowledge of software licensing and SaaS models, open-source licensing concepts, and privacy and data protection frameworks.
• Ability to translate complex legal issues into clear, actionable guidance for technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice to have

• In-house experience at a B2B SaaS or open-source company.
• Familiarity with database technologies, developer platforms, or infrastructure software.
• Experience with AI/ML, data platforms, or regulated enterprise customers.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced, globally distributed organization.
