Assignment and Web Producer

Location: Birmingham, Alabama, United States

What you will do

• Answer incoming news calls, assign daily stories, and dispatch photographers, reporters, and other personnel.
• Produce, organize, write, and edit content for newscasts and multiple media platforms.
• Coordinate logistics for news personnel and participate in daily story meetings.
• Develop coverage plans with the News Director and assist with story planning, development, and follow-up.
• Edit assigned video clips and collaborate with producers and managers on broadcast, digital, and web content.
• Select strong daily editorial pieces and optimize them for website publication.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
• At least one year of experience in newsgathering and/or production.
• Experience writing, producing, and editing with a desktop editing system.
• Knowledge and understanding of various media platforms.
• Basic understanding of multimedia file formats and strong computer skills.
• Understanding of the importance of social media.
