Multimedia Journalist & Producer

Location: San Antonio, TX, United States of America; hybrid role. Stories may cover San Antonio, Austin, and surrounding communities. Flexible hours may include early mornings, overnights, weekends, and holidays; local travel for field reporting may be required.

What you will do

• Produce accurate, visually engaging newscasts and news content for broadcast, digital, and streaming platforms.
• Identify, pitch, research, and develop original stories, including enterprise, breaking news, severe weather, elections, and community-focused coverage.
• Independently report from the field by researching, interviewing, gathering video and sound, writing scripts, editing packages, and delivering complete multimedia stories.
• Deliver live and pre-recorded on-camera reports and work without an assigned photographer or additional reporting support when necessary.
• Build rundowns, write scripts, develop story treatments, monitor developing news, and coordinate coverage with newsroom and digital teams.
• Maintain source relationships, verify information, advance stories, and uphold accuracy, fairness, ethics, and editorial integrity.

Requirements

• Experience in television news production, multimedia journalism, reporting, or a related newsroom environment.
• Strong news judgment and a demonstrated passion for local journalism and community-focused storytelling.
• Strong writing, research, interviewing, fact-checking, organizational, and time-management skills.
• Ability to independently research, shoot, write, edit, and deliver complete multimedia news stories for broadcast and digital platforms.
• Strong on-camera presentation skills for live reports, pre-recorded standups, and breaking news updates.
• Ability and willingness to work independently in the field and transition between newscast production, assignment desk responsibilities, and field reporting.
• Proficiency in Spanish, including strong written and verbal communication, and ability to communicate and research effectively in English.
• Proactive, competitive, team-oriented, adaptable, accountable, and open to feedback, with the ability to collaborate across newsroom functions.
• Commitment to factual accuracy, balanced reporting, ethical journalism, and editorial integrity.

Nice to have

• Experience producing local television newscasts and reporting independently as an MMJ.
• Proficiency with iNews or comparable newsroom production systems.
• Experience operating professional video cameras, field audio equipment, mobile reporting tools, and nonlinear editing software.
• Understanding of live news production, rundown management, and control room coordination.
• Experience with digital-first storytelling, social media publishing, and streaming news content.
• Familiarity with Central Texas communities and issues affecting Hispanic and Spanish-speaking audiences.
• Experience developing exclusive stories, cultivating sources, and covering breaking news, severe weather, elections, and major local events.
• Degree in journalism, communications, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
