Educational Consultant (ELA or Reading) – Per Diem – Columbus, OH

Location: Based in Columbus, OH; candidates must live in, near, or be open to relocating to the Columbus area. Considerable travel is required, including support for districts throughout the Midwest, PA, and WV. Travel up to 80% is an essential function.

Salary: $30/hour–$65.63/hour, depending on the type of assigned work.

What you will do

• Facilitate professional development, product training, and learning courses for teachers, coaches, and school administrators.
• Coordinate on-site training and adapt workshops within specified parameters to participant needs.
• Provide lesson planning, pacing, implementation, and instructional support to educators and leaders.
• Help educators analyze assessment data and apply it to instruction.
• Become an expert in the company’s online diagnostic and instruction programs, Ready and i-Ready, with a focus on ELA or Reading.
• Track detailed training notes, complete assignments on time, and participate in internal observation, feedback, coaching, and professional improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and at least 2+ years of experience teaching ELA or Reading, coaching ELA or Reading teachers, and providing ELA or Reading professional development.
• Strong knowledge of Common Core State Standards for ELA or Reading in Grades K–8, or comparable state standards, including content and practice standards.
• Fluency with digital tools and online assessments, plus comfort discussing and applying data with teachers and leaders.
• Understanding of adult learning principles and their application to professional development.
• Excellent facilitation, interpersonal, communication, time-management, organizational, and prioritization skills, with strong attention to detail.
• Excellent computer and internet skills, including Office programs such as Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to work independently and as part of an educational cohort.
• Own transportation, a valid driver’s license, and ability to travel up to 80%, including overnight, car, plane, and public transportation travel.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in ELA or Reading.
• Knowledge of online meeting programs such as Zoom or WebEx.
• Bilingual and biliterate English/Spanish skills.

Culture & Benefits

• Temporary, part-time, per-diem schedule arranged as needed according to customer demand, usually during normal school hours.
• Peak professional development periods are August–October and January–February, with delivery throughout the school year.
• The role’s seasonal, as-needed schedule is not recommended for candidates maintaining a full-time role operating during school hours.
• Hourly compensation includes professional learning delivery, internal training, travel time, and travel expenses; mileage reimbursement may be available for applicable travel.
• Company-provided laptop; eligible per-diem employees may accrue sick time, and those averaging at least 30 hours per week may become eligible for ACA medical coverage after a waiting period.
