Company

hirify.global delivers energy infrastructure solutions that provide reliable power and modernize infrastructure across North America, the UK, and Europe.

What you will do

  • Lead electrical engineering for large-scale mission-critical data center power projects involving generation, storage, substations, utility interconnections, microgrids, and medium- and high-voltage distribution.
  • Develop electrical bases of design, conceptual and preliminary designs, one-line diagrams, site layouts, protection and control architectures, grounding, communications, and auxiliary power systems.
  • Establish reliability, redundancy, availability, maintainability, stability, transient-response, black-start, and phased-load-growth criteria.
  • Perform or oversee load-flow, short-circuit, protection-coordination, arc-flash, harmonic, grounding, transient-stability, reactive-power, and generator or inverter integration studies.
  • Prepare technical requirements and procurement specifications; evaluate equipment, vendors, delivery schedules, warranties, testing, and service considerations.
  • Support utility interconnections, third-party engineer oversight, design and constructability reviews, customer workshops, commissioning, and testing of electrical equipment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • At least 8 years of progressively responsible electrical engineering experience, including significant experience with power generation, substations, utility interconnection, industrial power systems, or mission-critical electrical infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and reviewing medium- and high-voltage electrical systems, power-system studies, equipment specifications, protection and control systems, and electrical design documentation.
  • Ability to review confidential US security information.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, leadership, initiative, attention to detail, problem-solving, prioritization, scheduling, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to interpret one-line schematics, wiring diagrams, studies, specifications, construction drawings, and commissioning documentation; working knowledge of NFPA, IEEE, ANSI, NEMA, UL, National Electrical Code, utility, and jurisdictional requirements.
  • Ability to travel to project sites, customer meetings, vendor facilities, and commissioning activities as required.
  • Experience with mission-critical or hyperscale data centers, large on-site power plants, 69 kV-and-above substations, islanded systems, microgrids, grid-forming resources, black-start systems, load shedding, generator dispatch, restoration sequences, and inverter-based resources.
  • Experience with dynamic data center loads, UPS systems, rapid load changes, block loading, and AI or high-performance-computing load profiles.
  • Experience with electrical analysis, design, controls, and communications tools including ETAP, SKM PowerTools, EasyPower, PSCAD, PSS/E, PowerFactory, ASPEN, AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, SCADA, energy management systems, microgrid controllers, protective relays, metering, and industrial communications protocols.
  • Experience preparing or reviewing utility interconnection applications and related studies, working within an EPC or architectural and engineering consulting firm, supervising engineers, managing consultants, and reviewing engineer-of-record deliverables.

Nice to have

  • Current Professional Engineer license in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience supporting projects through development, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operation.
  • Familiarity with project cost estimating, equipment procurement, technical bid evaluations, construction schedules, and commercial risk assessment.

Culture & Benefits

  • Full-time employment with a hybrid work arrangement.
  • Health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, and other employee benefits.
  • Potential performance incentives, bonuses, commissions, or equity depending on the role.
