Terraform Developer (Okta Identity & Access Management)

Location: United States; remote. Contract engagement for 5 months, part-time at 10–16 hours per week.

What you will do

• Develop reusable Terraform modules to automate Okta configurations and manage groups, applications, policies, lifecycle management, federation settings, and administrative roles.
• Promote Terraform-managed configurations from Okta Preview to Production while managing state files, remote backends, secrets, and environment consistency.
• Build CI/CD pipelines integrated with Git repositories, branching strategies, pull requests, release approvals, rollback, and recovery procedures.
• Automate Okta Workforce Identity configurations and integrations with Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, Workday, and enterprise applications.
• Support provisioning, identity lifecycle management, identity governance, and integrations using REST APIs, SAML, OIDC, and SCIM.
• Produce technical documentation, deployment standards, operational runbooks, audit reports, knowledge transfer, and operational handover materials.

Requirements

• 3+ years of hands-on Terraform development experience and 2+ years implementing Infrastructure-as-Code solutions.
• Experience developing reusable Terraform modules, automating infrastructure configurations, and working with Terraform Cloud or Terraform Enterprise.
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines with GitHub, GitLab, Azure DevOps, or similar tools, including version control, branching, pull requests, and infrastructure change management.
• Experience managing Terraform state files, remote backends, and secrets management solutions.
• Working knowledge of REST APIs, JSON, and YAML, plus familiarity with AWS, Microsoft Azure, or GCP.
• Experience with Okta administration, configuration management, automation, Workforce Identity, application integrations, and identity lifecycle management.
• Experience or familiarity with Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, SAML, OIDC, and SCIM.
• Understanding of MFA, passwordless authentication, Conditional Access, IAM governance, security best practices, least privilege, RBAC, and privileged access management.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and technical documentation skills; ability to work independently, collaborate with architects, engineers, security teams, and stakeholders, and manage priorities within a part-time contract.

Nice to have

• Okta Certified Professional, Administrator, or Consultant certification.
• HashiCorp Terraform Associate certification and hands-on experience with the Okta Terraform Provider.
• Experience automating Okta deployments across Preview and Production environments or supporting enterprise IAM deployments involving 10,000+ users.
• Exposure to identity governance, provisioning integrations, lifecycle automation, Agile delivery, reusable automation frameworks, deployment standards, and operational runbooks.
